Just in case you missed it, Rusko’s latest track ‘Everyday’ has anyone and everyone talking dubstep. This track reminds me why Rusko remains one of my favs. His versatility and creativity and overall production genius are attributes that few can match. His latest work derives elements from drum and bass and classic techno -dubstep perfectly infused with a variety of formats. He’s done rap, reggae, and r&b to name a few, pushing dubstep beyond a distinct genre and into something that appeals and connects with everyone.

While I may have discovered Rusko completely on accident (checking out the openers before Major Lazer) I learned a great lesson that will forever outlive time. When it comes to shows, it’s always a  good idea showing up just a little early. Well done Rusko, Well Done.

Nas and Damian Marley have done it again! Releasing one of the best samples this year, using a song titled ‘Sabali’ originally by artists Amadou & Mariam. Sabali has attracted many artists since it’s release, ‘Grey x Sage’ by Theophilus London had been my previous favorite song to feature the track. And dozens of remixes of Sabali exist as well. Plenty of other great samples have been popping up in recent weeks.   Show Tufli’s sample of  ‘Shiki no Uta’ in ‘Jap Scene’ is an amazing use of Japanese vocals in a rap song, possibly the best.

Spicing things up after the last post, I’ve decided to take the initiative to bring you what you love:  fast, heavy, wicked bass! Adam F’s incredible remix of ‘Take Over Control’ could not be any more perfectly composed. He corrected all of Afrojack’s mistakes with massive amounts of bass and some surprising skill indeed. A-track’s remix of Robyn’s ‘Indestructible’ is an intense uplifting mix that packs a lot of energy… Maybe a little too much.. Still, you gotta love the violins!

This seductive video highlights a breakthrough for James Breakage (aka James Boyle) an up and coming force in the world of British dance. The track pushes elements from dance trance and house, a killer-combo, but ultimately the amazing vocals of Jess Mills pushed this track to where it is.
